How much is the NECO registration fee?
In 2025, the NECO registration fee is ₦17,800, non-refundable. Internal candidates must pay via bank draft or to the school management. Payments can also be made at NECO offices, banks, or NIPOST offices.
Requirements for the NECO Registration
Eligibility requires enrollment in SS2 or SS3 at a private or public senior secondary school. Ensure you have your registration payment, a personal email (preferably Gmail), and a date of birth. Keep your passports handy for face recognition, use a unique phone number, and verify the correct spelling of your names. Know your local government, home state, and address. Be aware of the exam subjects and prepare to study.
A passport-sized photograph with a white background, taken within the last six months, is required for registration. Biometric fingerprints will be captured during offline registration and verified during the exam. Candidates with mismatched fingerprints will face penalties.
NECO SSCE External payments
Candidates or registration points should visit www.neco.gov.ng to create and activate an account using email or phone number, then pay through NECO TSA via ATM card, internet banking, USSD, wallet, or bank branch.
General Information
- The registration fee is non-refundable.
- Walk-in candidates may register up to 6 hours before their exam.
- Examination centers cannot be edited after upload.
- Follow instructions carefully on www.neco.gov.ng and use reputable cybercafes.
- Verify all entries before data upload; only one correction is allowed within two weeks after upload.

NECO e-Verification Platform
Institutions can verify candidates using the e-Verify Token/R by clicking “Verify Candidate Token” on their dashboard.
Candidates should:
- Log in and generate a payment token by clicking ‘Purchase Token.’
- Pay through the Remita gateway.
- Log in again to ‘Validate Token Payment.’
- Submit the Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) to the institution or
- Submit the application with the institution’s “Reference Code” in the “Ref No” field on the verification form.
How to Register for NECO 2025/2026
f you’re looking to register for the NECO Examination this year, here’s a quick guide:
Candidates must first pay the registration fee and then register through the NECO registration portal. There are two registration types: for internal (current students) and external (private) candidates. For internal candidates, visit http://www.mynecoexams.com/ourexaminations, select “Go to SSCE Internal Site,” enter your Username, Password, and Operator ID, then click “Login” to access the registration dashboard.
- Visit https://ssceexternal.neco.gov.ng and click “Register Here” to create an account.
- Activate your account using the email you receive (check spam folder if necessary).
- Log in with your email and password.
- Pay for the SSCE external examination.
- After payment, receive your exam and/or four-figure table tokens.
- Register at an approved cybercafe or registration point found at https://operator.neco.gov.ng.
- Provide your information, including pictures and fingerprints, and use your token to upload your data.
- Receive a photo card with your registration number and details upon verification.

The registration period is from July 3, 2024, to November 6, 2024. Late registration incurs an additional ₦2,000 fee. Walk-in registration costs ₦28,000 per candidate. Registration must be completed a day before the first scheduled exam.
Upon completing the registration for the NECO GCE, candidates must acquire the examination timetable from the Cyber Cafe and obtain at least one clear copy of the NECO Photo Card, which is required for entry into the Examination Hall. Passport-sized photographs on the Photo Card must be clear, as blurry images will not be accepted.
The Photo Card’s Referee’s Attestation section must be signed and stamped by an authorized individual, such as a school principal, ordained cleric, commissioned officer, senior civil servant, or experienced legal practitioner. Candidates no longer need to submit their Photo Cards for stamping at NECO State Offices.
Visually impaired candidates should register as usual but must indicate their disability in the offline application bio-data. Examination centers are organized by Neighbourhoods within each state; candidates will be automatically assigned a center in their chosen Neighbourhood after uploading their registration data online.
