New Approval Guidelines for Banners and Promotional Materials: UNIUYO Students’Union

The Students’ Union (SUG) at the University of Uyo (UNIUYO) has implemented a strict new framework to govern all promotional and advertising activities across the campus. This move, spearheaded by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, is designed to bring organizational structure to how information is disseminated within the student community.

Centralized Publicity Control

Citing Section 15(e) of the Students’ Union Solidarity Constitution, the Directorate has reaffirmed its role as the primary authority for managing campus media. This oversight covers a broad range of materials, including:

  • Physical Signage: The mounting of banners and billboards.
  • Printed Media: The distribution of handbills and the posting of flyers or bills.
  • General Branding: Any publicity efforts from student groups, individual learners, or third-party corporate brands.

The Authorization Protocol

To maintain institutional order, the Union has established a mandatory approval process. No promotional content can be displayed or shared without first being vetted by the Office of the Director. Interested parties must formally submit their materials for:

  1. Verification: Ensuring the content aligns with university values.
  2. Registration: Recording the duration and location of the advertisement.
  3. Official Clearance: Obtaining the final green light for display.

Consequences of Non-Compliance

The Directorate warned that it will take immediate action against unauthorized advertisements. Any posters or banners found without the requisite approval will be dismantled instantly, with the responsible parties held accountable. This policy is intended to complement existing University Management regulations while promoting transparency and tidiness on campus grounds.
