Feel free to ask questions for clarification on any aspect before proceeding with the registration. It is crucial to thoroughly understand the procedures before initiating the registration process.

NECO BECE Registration Eligibility Requirements

Only JSS3 students are eligible for the 2023 BECE registration. This exam is exclusively for school-based candidates in Nigeria and overseas. Principals/Commandants and State Ministries of Education should ensure strict compliance with this eligibility condition.

How to Register For NECO BECE 2025/2026

The 2023 BECE registration will be both offline and online. Offline registration for the 2023 BECE involves downloading the application from www.neco.gov.ng. Schools input candidates’ biodata using this application, following the step-by-step manual on the Council’s website.

Candidates are considered registered only when their offline entries are progressively uploaded online after payment of registration fees, obtaining a registration number in the process.

Offline Validation

Following a successful offline registration, schools must conduct offline bio-data validation before uploading the registration data online. Candidates should review and correct any errors in name, picture, date of birth, sex, subjects, etc., during this validation process.

It is crucial to note that the council is not responsible for registration errors made by schools, and all corrections must be addressed during the validation process before the online upload.

How to Conduct an Offline Validation

Upon completing offline registration, schools must print offline photo cards for all candidates. Candidates should verify and correct any errors in their Picture, Name, State, Local Government Area (LGA), Date of Birth, Sex, and chosen subjects.

Corrected photocards are signed by candidates and returned to the registration personnel for offline application updates. All corrections must be done offline, and registration duplication is not allowed.

After corrections, a validation list is printed for candidates to sign against their names. The signed offline validation list, along with other validation documents, is to be returned to respective NECO State Offices.

Schools requesting corrections in Name (spelling errors only), Picture, Date of Birth, Sex, or Subjects after online upload are considered to have engaged in “NON-VALIDATION.”

The penalty fee for non-validation is(N7,000.00)per candidate, regardless of the nature of the non-validation.

Schools need to ensure accurate candidate pictures during registration, as changing a candidate’s picture after result release will not be accommodated.

School Center Activation

Each school was required to be activated by the NECO State Coordinator of the respective state and FCT before payment and upload could occur.

Validation documents, including a signed validation list by candidates, candidates’ signed photocards, an endorsed entry schedule by the State Ministry of Education (where applicable), and subject analysis, were to be returned to NECO State Offices before activation. Schools were reminded that Centre Activation commenced on January 23, 2025.

Procedures for payment upload

If you are making payments, remember that all payments are made exclusively through the school’s online NECO portal. Upon successful payment, registration quotas are assigned based on the amount deposited into the NECO TSA.

Schools can then choose specific candidates for upload by selecting checkboxes next to their names or opt for the “check all” box for all candidates if applicable. Note that when paying in installments, initiate payment for a minimum of 20 candidates to avoid surcharges for an unviable center fee.

Payment receipts are emailed to the school or can be printed from the transaction history in the school profile.

After registration, print the final validation list and have candidates sign against their names. The payment receipt and signed validation list, including candidates’ registration numbers, must be endorsed by the School Principal/Commandant before submission to the NECO State Office.

The final photocards, bearing candidates’ registration numbers, are used for admission to the examination hall(s).
